Fazilka district is facing severe flooding after heavy rains, leaving many villages and panchayats under water. Homes, roads, and crops have been badly damaged, making life very hard for local residents. Following orders from the Chief Minister, the Punjab government is working day and night to provide relief. Local MLA Narinder Pal Singh has also visited the affected areas, guiding officials and making sure aid reaches the people quickly.

Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond Leads Relief Efforts

Punjab Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond toured the flood-affected regions of Fazilka, personally distributing relief materials to families struggling with rising water levels and heavy rainfall. He spoke with local residents and assured them of the government’s support in restoring normal life. As part of the relief work, food packets, medicines, and other essentials were handed out. With villages under water and farmland damaged, the state government intensified efforts to provide both immediate assistance and long-term rehabilitation for victims. The administration prioritized health services due to the risk of disease after floods. Eight medical teams working 24/7 were sent to villages to provide medicines and treatment. Additionally, 26 extra medical teams were stationed at relief camps to make sure no family was left without healthcare.

Several emergencies occurred despite relief work. In one incident, four people were injured when a wall collapsed, but they were quickly hospitalized. Another person narrowly survived electrocution thanks to local alertness. A child who fell into water became critically ill but received timely ambulance care. Four women gave birth safely during the floods, with one mother and her newborn still at the Slemepur relief camp in good health. These efforts reflect the swift action of officials and medical teams to protect vulnerable people.

Challenges in Delivering Supplies and Community Support

Delivering aid to flood-hit families was a major challenge due to waterlogged roads. Still, nearly 3,800 families received food and essential supplies in a single distribution round, ensuring people had meals and basic support during the crisis.
Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond played a key role in supervising relief work, visiting villages, and reaching people directly. He also encouraged local youth to help with the operations, speeding up the relief process. His efforts strengthened the administration’s work and brought much-needed comfort to affected families. The combined efforts of the government and social workers show that administrative support paired with community cooperation can overcome even the toughest disasters. Under the Chief Minister’s leadership, officials continue working tirelessly, monitoring every issue closely. Thanks to these efforts, the people of Fazilka are gradually returning to normal life, hopeful that the flood crisis will soon be behind them.
